Welcome from the Head of Section
Dear Parents,
I am thrilled to welcome you all as we embark on a new academic year at Saint Mary Private High School, RAK. As the Head of Section of Lower and Upper Secondary, I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you and your children as we embark on another academic year filled with opportunities for growth and achievement.
At Saint Mary Private High School, we hold a deep commitment to academic excellence and we strive to provide a nurturing environment that fosters critical thinking, problem solving and a passion for learning. We believe in equipping the next generation with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their studies and beyond.
In Year 10, our students will embark on a two-year course to prepare for their IGCSE examinations at the end of Year 11. The IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) is a globally recognized qualification that marks a significant milestone in your child’s journey. In Year 10, students will be required to study eight IGCSE subjects - six compulsory IGCSE subjects and two optional. In addition to the IGCSE subjects, they will study all the required MOE subjects. For more detailed information about the subject, specification, and course materials, you can visit the link below.

We encourage you to explore this comprehensive resource and familiarize yourselves with the specifications of each subject.
Our dedicated teaching staff will work diligently to ensure that our students receive comprehensive support, rigorous coursework, and targeted exam preparation throughout their Year 10 and Year 11 studies. We will provide them with a carefully designed curriculum that covers the required subject matter while fostering critical thinking, problem solving and effective study habits. Our aim is to empower them with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently tackle the IGCSE examinations and achieve their full potential.
We understand that this period of preparation is crucial. Therefore, our teachers will provide personalized guidance and regular assessments to monitor progress and identify areas where additional support may be needed. Additionally, we will offer our study resources, revision sessions, and mock exams to familiarise students with the examination format and build their confidence.
Moreover, we believe in fostering a strong partnership between parents and the school. We encourage open communication and value your feedback and involvement in your child’s education. We will keep you informed of your child’s progress and provide regular updates on their academic performance and areas of improvement. We invite you to participate in parent-teacher conferences, meeting with the SLTs and other school events to strengthen our collaboration in supporting your child’s academic journey.
I look forward to meeting and working closely with each one of you throughout the academic year.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the faculty if you have any questions, concerns or suggestions. We are here to support you and your child on this educational journey.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children’s education. Let us make this year a memorable and successful one.
Warm regards,
Ms. Grace Iskandar
